Dre Grigoropol is an artist, illustrator, cartoonist, multimedia creator, and teaching artist based in Philadelphia, PA. Her artistic practice encompasses diverse media, including painting, printmaking, cartooning, animation, video art, and comic zines. Dre's visual work reflects her surroundings and nature, from the Jersey Shore to Fairmount Park to the Brandywine Creek of Delco – capturing expressive moments in time. In addition, she draws inspiration from art history, mythology, folklore, storytelling, and pop culture.
Dre is actively involved with print and zine-focused art groups, including as a board member with The Soapbox, a new studio member at Space 1026, and an artist member of The Center of Book Arts. An event and festival planner, Dre has also organized many well-known Philly events, including Riso Expo Philly and Philly Zine Fest. She has facilitated workshops with Mural Arts Print for the People, a live screen printing makers station with original art at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Family Day, live printmaking at the Franklin Institute, teaching drawing and painting at Conshohocken Arts League, and workshops at The Soapbox. Publications include working as editor and book layout for The Soapbox’s risograph magazines and Theresa’s Journal volumes 1 and 2.
